We right in the middle of prime summertime fishing, and what could be better, getting out of the city, gettin some serious fishing done. I always cherish the time with my fishin buddies on the boat, enjoying a cool one, smoking a cigar and soaking in the sun's rays. The feeling of being totally relaxed and content enjoying the outdoors only lasts for the first ten minutes. I realize that when we get together, a fishing derby has sprung, and my competive fishing buddies has set the table for some bragging rights and a little cash. Who catches the most, the biggest, and if your shut out , you pay double! Yes its all fun and games, but somehow we never set a deadline when we actually pull anchor and go back to shore.
I once was out in the dark one evening well after 11pm, as two buddies were deadlocked at 16 apiece. We needed a winner! It finally happened some 20 mintues later, and I look back on it and it was all worth it. There should no such thing as a tie.
Fishing really does bring the best out of us, brings us closer to our friends, our sponses, and its always a special event for our children. Somehow one always remembers later in life when they went fishing with their parents when they were young.
For the rest of summer, enjoy some excellent fishing in Alberta, and as my good friend Brian always says, " take a kid fishing" and create those golden memories.
